Infranode acquires 25% stake in major Swedish wind farm portfolio
Infranode has signed an agreement to acquire a 25% stake in the Ranasjöhöjden and Salsjöhöjden onshore wind farm portfolio, a significant renewable energy asset located in Sollefteå municipality in central Sweden. As co-owners of the portfolio, Infranode will continue to support the ongoing electrification of northern Sweden by providing essential renewable energy to benefit local communities and facilitate the green transition.
The Ranasjöhöjden and Salsjöhöjden wind farm portfolio is one of the ten largest in Sweden, with 39 turbines and 200-meters in tip height. The portfolio consists of two operational wind farms equipped with 39 Siemens turbines, each with a capacity of 6.2 MW, providing a total combined electricity capacity of 242 MW. In practice, this means the portfolio can power over 45,000 households and supports Sweden’s progress towards its 2045 net-zero carbon emissions target, with wind power being key for Sweden to achieve a fully renewable energy mix. On August 14, Infranode agreed to buy the 25 % stake in the Ranasjöhöjden and Salsjöhöjden wind farm portfolio from InfraRed Capital Partners.
“The investment is a milestone in our long-term ambition to own and develop sustainable energy infrastructure in the Nordics. Having actively looked at numerous Swedish wind assets over the past years, we are pleased to have found an opportunity that aligns with our investment strategy and our commitment to work towards net-zero by 2040.”
says Joel Löfroth, Head of Investments Sweden, Infranode.
“The sale of this stake in the portfolio is a testament to our team’s expertise in bringing construction projects to fruition and our ability to unlock value for our investors.”
says Dulce Mendonça, Partner, InfraRed Capital Partners.
InfraRed Capital Partners acquired the portfolio in 2021 from Arise, a leading Swedish renewable energy company, and construction commenced shortly afterwards. The wind farms became operational on 30 April 2024. Arise will continue to oversee the management and operation of the wind farms forward.
